November was a difficult month for the Luther family. 

First, my uncle Kent (Mom’s brother) passed away on November 5th due to a ruptured brain aneurysm at the age of 61. Amy and I joined Mom and Dad in West Memphis to be with my grandmother and the rest of our family. 

Then on the 22nd, my grandmother (Mom’s mother) passed away (just a month away from her 89th birthday). Grammy was the only grandparent I was close to, and her passing has been very hard on all of us. Daily, I still think about picking up the phone to call her. Deirdre and I had planned to visit Mom and Dad in Aurora with Eli for Thanksgiving, but instead I flew to West Memphis again. Deirdre and Eli stayed in NY.

My dad’s brother died earlier this year. While 2008 has brought many joyous things, including the newest addition to the family, I hope that 2009 brings more health and happiness to everyone.
